God, Spirituality and Religion.
In this day and age there is quite a contrast between religion
and spirituality. Most religions believe in a set of rules or
codes that were obtained through books.Generally those seeking a
spiritual path are, or should be more intent on finding the
truth. While that may involve reading books and even in depth
study of the words and phrases what they learn is still subject
to open to revelation from God.
The great spiritual truth is that life is a journey. We may
deviate from the path in many ways but I believe that if are
hearts and minds are open to the truth God will in fact reveal
it. If are hearts and minds are closed because we think we have
the truth already because we read it in a book then God can't
reveal anything to us.
Much of what I say is from personal experience with religion,
spirituality, scriptures, meditation and mind-boggling
revelation. Let''s say hypothetically that your belief system is
rooted in doctines from books, any books; and God comes to you
and tells you literally mind-boggling that may be contrary to
what you believed- what do you do? Believe God or a
book? Do you say to God no you can't do that because the
book says .......!
If we are seeking the truth and seeking God we can receive the
higher laws of the spirit, maybe even the Supreme laws which are
love and service. This word, "spirituality" will
come to the forefront in the near future. For many who's belief
system is rooted in a book, spirituality seems threatening...
after all we can't have people thinking for themselves can we???
Yes, we can! We can have people who know that there is more to
the story and seek the truth. In some cases to rigid of a
religious belief can be preventing us from finding it.
God loves and God is spirit. Personally, I'd like to see a set of
spiritual laws that transcend all the pettiness and division
brought about through books and get on to the good stuff like
loving and changing this world for the better.. All the
best-aph

The day is fast approaching that questions people have asked been asking for thousands of years will be answered. The answers are intended to bring peace, joy and liberty to all; but will they?
To me, one of the most alarming
trends in religion today is an almost blind faith in a book; and
not in God, who the book is about. The Bible is a mystery... it
is full of irreconcilable and incomprehensible statements, acts,
accounts and contradictions. To not see all of them acknowledge
the truth of this isn't faith. Maybe God had a deeper
reason for certain words or statements that are
ridiculous being in there. Faith in God and faith in a book are
worlds apart! The Bible didn't convince me to believe or trust in
God, and neither did religion; God did!
What if some of the things that were sown into the Bible thousands of years ago either weren't true, or even malicious? Would that change your trust in God? If the answer is yes, that's truly sad. If you are a Christian I have a question for you. How many times did Jesus Christ say to place your faith and trust in a book of scriptures? He said trust in GOD and trust also in me.
The last people that I would want to see judging people on earth are those with a rigid and inflexible faith in a book, a book; not God! By the book you would have to condemn people God wants to save. What if God ultimately wants to save everyone? What if that's God will? Will you tell Him that He can't do it because the book says so? Are there glimpses of God in the book? Yes, are they all from God? Absolutely not, and the very book that so many want to take literally even says so! In Jeremiah 8,8 this is what the LORD said.
KJV 8,8
8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain madeďťżaďťż he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. [1]
A - in vain made...: or, the false pen of the scribes worketh for falsehood
NOTE: The tense this verse was used in was past, present and future...
The Bible is a mystery! It's also the most scientific book ever written; but it's been used over and over again to curse, condemn and enslave people that God loves! People that God personally endured afflictions, persecutions, terror, curses, poverty and suffering beyond human comprehension to set free. Kind of like the song "The Impossible Dream". He marched into hell for a heavenly cause; and I tell you truly that He's marching out of hell with all of the prisoners! That's the God that I know! That is the God of Love...
Go look at the stars in the sky, the mysteries of science, the miracles in every form of life and ask yourself how smart is God? Is God not the greatest scientist of all? God is alive. There are reasons that the Bible has existed; mysteries, secrets and messages that were sent thousands of years in advance. There are verses in the Bible that needed to be fulfilled and messages people had to receive. Messages that are three thousand years old that are so concise, detailed and descriptive that only the ONE (the Most High One) could have sent them, the Author of Life itself.
NOTE: The message related here is not designed for any other purpose than to encourage true faith.. faith in God. It's not to argue theology or doctrines; I'll leave that to the experts in religion. In the Gospels didn't Jesus say something about worshipping God in spirit and in truth.

John 4:23 |
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. |

|
John 4:24 |
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. |

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which can not fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-that principle is contempt prior to investigation." - HERBERT SPENCER
Spencer was a very widely known English philosopher, scientist, theologian during the 1800's. He was also among the creators of the field of sociology. He was among the greatest minds of Victorian England.
NOTES:
This quote appeared in the First Edition of the Book of Alcoholics Anonymous which is the foundation of all the 12 step programs. After tens of thousand of thousands of hours studying scriptures with computer software, reading many different books on religion, GOD, Spirituality and related subjects I have yet to find a formula or belief system more complete or more powerful than the 12 Steps. Even though these steps were written by what the world saw as social outcasts and failures it is my wholehearted belief that GOD (and there is one) guided their hearts, minds and pens to fashion the most powerful spiritual principles into a simple formula.
Herbert Spencer's quote about "Contempt prior to Investigation" can be applied to many things. In the spiritual or religious area it can mean that without having an open mind to spiritual principles there can be NO REVELATION. If you think that you know the Truth of GOD then GOD can't reveal it to you.
The Book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible. It was written at least 1000 years before Genesis and every question, statement and response in the Book of Job has a deep and profound message. While many see this book as ancient literature or historical account I see it as a latter day prophecy.
As great a man that Job was or is, one of the few criticisms he received was that he said "my doctrine is pure". If you think you know the whole truth because you read it in a book then your faith is in men and books; not in the Divine Source of true life changing and life giving revelation that comes from GOD.
NOTE about Job: (it says in the Bible that Job was the greatest man in all the East: east= eternity. This was echoed numerous times throughout the Chapters by his three friends "Job were you the first man ever born?, by the fourth young man who came to to speak to Job (Elihu= meaning He is my God) said I am young and Job you are very old (probably ancient, as in Ancient of Days). When the LORD came to speak with Job in the last few Chapters He asked Job; were you with me at the foundation of the world?
Life holds many mysteries that GOD will reveal if we are willing to investigate and be open to revelation. If our views and beliefs are rigid and inflexible then GOD can't show us how great He is...
Be open to revelation... GOD is opening up revelations that have been hidden for thousands of years. Good things are coming!

Maybe you've heard about the wonderful benefits of meditation; "It will relax you, center your thoughts, allow you to escape from your stressful day". Why wouldn't you want to take part in such an activity?
The truth is - most people never reap the considerable rewards that a quality meditation session can offer. After a few unsuccessful attempts, these individuals give up and conclude "meditation doesn't work". If you don't believe meditation can work for you, I'd like to offer you a bit of perspective via the following exercise:
Go to a music store that sells pianos (if you can play piano, substitute this instrument with one you've never played before). Sit down at a piano and play some beautiful music. What, you can't......? But I've heard that a person can play beautiful music on a piano. Maybe try a few more times. No doubt, if after three or four attempts you are not producing exquisite sounds from this instrument, you will come to the conclusion that "pianos don't work".
We all know that the piano is capable of producing music, so why are you not able to get it to work? It's because, in order to play the piano successfully, you must take the time to learn how to the instrument works, and then spend many hours practicing.
Meditation is not a practice that will "work" the first time you try it. It took you awhile to learn how to ride a bike. You probably couldn't catch a ball the first time you tried. Most likely, your first few meditation sessions won't be very successful either. Instead of giving up, read some literature on meditation, research the subject on websites, and try to practice once a day for a month. Your local library probably has some meditation audio recordings or videos that you can borrow. Try a variety of meditations to find an approach that works well for you. With a bit of effort, you will get results from your meditation sessions.
