The Bibles’s Day Star
April 19, 2011 0 CommentsThe Bible contains an immense number of words. Some of the words are repeated many times and some appear only once. Such is the case for the word “day star” in 2 Peter 1:19 of the New Testament. The verse is shown below.
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The word day star (phosphoros /foce•for•os ) is word number G5459 from the Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon. The translation and explanation of this word from the Authorized Version is “translates as “day star” once. light bringing, giving light. - the planet Venus, the morning star, day star. - metaph. Christ. The word is derived from G5457 meaning to make manifest or shed light and word number G5342 (Phero/Fero) translated as bring, bring forth, bear, come, reach, endure, and carry.
The question is when the day star arises in your heart is it referring to a light as spiritual clarity or as LIGHT, as in bright (possibly super natural illumination) light? God knows. Interestingly, word G5342 Phero (pronounced Fero) primary translations are to bear or carry an immense burden – and endure (until the shines forth).
2 Peter 1:19 suggests that ultimately the light will shine in darkness and the day star will arise in your heart. Needless to say, there is a lot of darkness in this world and it is time for light!
