Does Meditation Help You To Grow Spiritually?
January 3, 2010 0 CommentsThe simple answer to the question about meditating and growing
spiritually is yes. If you are new to meditation you may very well
discover an easy way to reduce stress, become more intuitive and be
happier regardless of your present circumstances. A lot of people
would pay big money for that type of results but the good news is
that meditation is free and you can do it
anywhere.
There are many types of meditation types of meditation but for the
purpose of this article I am going to keep it simple. That usually
works best anyway! Over the years I have found either sitting in a
chair or laying on a bed or flat surface is best. Below is a simple
meditation practice that works.
- Close your eyes and be aware of your right hand. Can you see your right hand? Can you feel the the blood flowing to your hand and a slight tingling in your fingers?
- As you are being aware of your hand you will no doubt be pulled be distracted by all your other thoughts. When you realize that you are not being aware of your hand simply go back to being aware.
- In the beginning you can meditate like this for 5 minutes or more if you wish.
There are additional tips that I will write about in a different
post but this is a simple way to start meditating. One thing you
will notice right away is the power our thoughts have to distract
us. As you become aware of all the thoughts pulling you away you
become more objective about your thoughts and less emotional about
them. You may even see thoughts that make you wonder where in heck
did that come from?
As you mediate daily you will gradually become better at it and may
even find different positions that work better for you. You will
also find that your thoughts have less control over you and your
level of perception and intuition will increase.
That's it for now. Try this simple meditation every day for a
while. Even if it is only for a few minutes. You'll be glad you
did...
