Spiritual Wisdom From The New Testament - 2 Cor 3,6
November 26, 2009 0 CommentsWho also hath made us able
ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of
the spirit: for the letter killleth but the spirit giveth
life.Translation from the King James Bible 2 Corinthians
3,6
This Bible verse is one that would
cause great controversy with many teachers of religion. What is the
true message here? Are we being told here that belief in words on
the pages of a book not will not only fail to bring life but may
even kill the spirit within us that brings life? One of the
Spirit's role is to bring knowledge and revelation about God. If
our belief in God is based solely on the writings of men in a
book we will have no knowledge and no revelation.
After untold number of hours of
detailed study of the Bible, scripture verses, key words and
scrolls in search of the true word of God this verse provides a
great deal of wisdom and insight to me. Because the more I learned
about the things that were written in the Bible the more I learned
how inconsistent many of the words are.
What this verse means to you is your
choice. At one time I took the Bible very literally and it
frustrated me to no end. There were times that I would throw it
against the wall and say "Are you people nuts?" because it would
say things that were exact opposites in the same verse. In some
places it would say things that are absolutely against the heart,
the character and the will of God and I knew it. How did I know it?
By the Spirit of God! Never the less, it caused me great anguish
and doubt because on one hand I am told that this is the word of
God and yet I know God wouldn't have said that. God is the creative
force of life and love. His purpose is to reconcile, not condemn.
God is not the author of confusion... Which by the way is what the
word Babylon means!
There are many who would argue these
points with great eloquence. The question is do they know
God? If what they know came from a book they don't! God is higher
than any religion or any book. God is the Supreme Spirit and is
accountable to none.
If you are a Christian I would ask
you this. Who murdered Jesus Christ? According to the Bible, it was
the religious leaders and the teachers of the law that demanded
that Christ be crucified. To them the letter of the law was higher
than the spirit. The letter doesn't know or comprehend God, it
doesn't know or comprehend God's love or God's grace. In the
Gospel's Jesus said that the Comforter or Spirit will
lead you into All Truth.
May the Spirit of
God lead you into the truth of God's Goodness, the revelation
of God's love and special ways that you can help Him to change this
world for the better.
