The Bible is the doctrinal root of
most Christian religions and denominations. Many of the
denominations started as a result of differences in opinion over
the meaning of certain Bible verses. What about spirituality? Is
it mentioned in the Bible? The answer is yes.
The word
"spiritual" is mentioned 28 times in the KJV
Bible. All but one of those verses is in the New Testament. It is
used once in the Old Testament in Hosea 9,7. The word
"spiritually" is used 3 times in the KJV Bible
all of which are in the New Testament. The word spirit is used
over 500 times throughout the Old and New
Testaments.
One Bible verse that uses the word
spiritual I find to be interesting is from 1 COR 2,15 in the King
James Version Bible. It says " But he that is spiritual judgeth all
things, yet he himself is judged of no man".
What is the message in this
verse? Is this a good
thing? Is this verse
exhorting people toward spirituality?
The meaning and
message to many Bible words and verses are up to us to decide
their meaning or message. In the Gospels Jesus said that God
seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. This
verse is food for deeper thought and revelation from God.
OK God, please reveal the
truth...
